This design manifesto subconsciously drives my everyday mindset, processes and decision-making.
Why before how
Too often we start with a solution. I strive to dig deeper to understand the root causes of the problem.
Inclusive design over silos
Good ideas can come from anywhere. I enable diverse groups of people to come together and solve problems.
Scenarios before screens
Screens are just one of the many mechanisms to deliver a solution. I try to understand the user’s context and scenario first.
Learning over perfection
According to Sturgeon’s Law, 90% of everything is crap. I know my first idea will probably not be the best idea. I go first quantity first before quality.
Forgiveness over permission
Status quo can't be changed by asking for permission. I believe in taking the initiative to drive change and ask for forgiveness if needed.
Compassion before empathy
Empathy has become a buzzword. No amount of empathy building techniques can substitute a lack of compassion for users.
